Lian Li’s Uni Fan TL LCD Brings Personality to Cooling

PC cooling has always been about airflow and efficiency, but Lian Li is taking things a step further by adding personality into the mix. The Uni Fan TL LCD series comes with small 1.6-inch displays built right into the hub of each fan. These screens can showcase static images, looping GIFs, or even short video clips, making them a creative way to personalize a build while still keeping temperatures in check.

The displays are bright and colorful, with improved viewing angles compared to earlier prototypes. They are not meant to replace a dedicated screen, but they are eye-catching additions that can display anything from playful animations to system stats. For builders who want their PCs to stand out, they add a touch of flair that is impossible to ignore.

That said, there are some design choices to be aware of. Because the LCD panel is only visible on one side, orientation matters a great deal when installing. If you want the screens on your intake fans, all of them need to face the same direction. You also cannot mix LCD and non-LCD versions on the same daisy-chain, which limits flexibility when planning out a full fan setup.

Each fan includes RGB lighting zones around the edges and an infinity mirror effect that complements the central display. Control is handled through Lian Li’s L-Connect 3 software, which allows users to upload custom images and videos, adjust playback, and sync lighting across the system. Videos take a moment to load, but once running, they loop smoothly, adding motion and color to the case interior.

Installation is fairly straightforward thanks to Lian Li’s familiar clip-together daisy-chain design. Multiple fans can connect side by side with minimal cabling, reducing clutter inside the case. The system does require a controller box that pulls power from both a PCIe connector and a SATA connection, so builders may need to free up power supply cables to make everything fit.

While not without quirks, the Uni Fan TL LCD lineup offers a refreshing take on case fans by merging cooling with customization. They may not provide the same raw flexibility as traditional setups, but for builders who want to combine function with a unique aesthetic, they strike an appealing balance between performance and personality.
