Cooler Master has decided to give its eye-catching Shark X chassis a life of its own by selling the case separately. Originally launched as part of a $7,000 prebuilt system, the case alone is now available in Japan for roughly $4,300. The price may be lower than the full system, but it is still an extravagant sum for an enclosure.

The Shark X is not your average PC case. Built to resemble a shark in both shape and size, it stands more than two feet tall and measures over 30 inches in multiple dimensions. The exterior is illuminated with vibrant RGB lighting from the fins to the jaws, making it as much a display piece as it is a functional chassis.

Despite its playful design, the Shark X is built with practicality in mind. The internal layout supports mini-ITX motherboards and allows room for high-end graphics cards and liquid cooling systems. The motherboard sits beneath the shark’s jaw, while cooling components are tucked into the head and dorsal fin, turning the aquatic theme into a functional airflow system.

Cooler Master promotes the Shark X as a fusion of art and engineering, a product that blends creativity with performance hardware. Whether or not it will ever be sold outside of Japan remains unclear, but the decision to sell the case separately suggests Cooler Master is looking to recoup the cost of producing such a complex design.

For most builders, the Shark X will remain a curiosity rather than a realistic option. Its price and size make it a niche product aimed at collectors or those who want a PC that doubles as an art piece. Still, it represents how far PC design can go when creativity takes center stage, proving that cases can be more than just a box for components—they can be a conversation starter.
