PM981 shares its core NAND and controller technology with Samsung's well-known 970 EVO, offered through OEM channels without retail packaging. 256GB is a practical boot-drive size for an older desktop or laptop upgrade. Check that your motherboard or laptop has a free M.2 2280 slot with NVMe (PCIe) support; PCIe 4.0 drives also work in PCIe 3.0 slots at the slot's lower speed. Used drives are sold as-is — please back up any data on the drive you replace.
It is an NVMe M.2 2280 drive using PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe. It does not work in an M.2 slot that is SATA-only.
