A 4TB Gen4 drive like the NM790 replaces several smaller drives and frees up SATA/M.2 slots elsewhere in the system, with sequential speeds fast enough to saturate most Gen4 motherboard slots. Check that your motherboard or laptop has a free M.2 2280 slot with NVMe (PCIe) support; PCIe 4.0 drives also work in PCIe 3.0 slots at the slot's lower speed. Used drives are sold as-is — please back up any data on the drive you replace.
It is an NVMe M.2 2280 drive using PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe. It does not work in an M.2 slot that is SATA-only.
