Lian Li O11D Mini V2: A Compact Case with Big Potential

The Lian Li O11D Mini V2 has been on the radar since its early appearances at CES and Computex, and it has quickly proven itself as one of the more capable compact cases available. KitGuru’s review praised its versatility, awarding it an impressive score of 8.5 out of 10, noting that it manages to combine a small footprint with a wide range of options for builders.

The case supports ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX motherboards, including the newer back-connect ATX designs, and comes with five expansion slots. Builders have plenty of choices when it comes to cooling, with mounting locations at the front, roof, side, rear, and bottom, and compatibility with radiators up to 360 mm. For storage, it accommodates both 2.5-inch drives and a mix of 2.5/3.5-inch options, making it flexible enough for modern setups. Measuring just under 40 cm tall and about 27 cm wide, it maintains a compact form while keeping functionality intact.

When tested with a Ryzen 9 9950X and RTX 5080, the case performed well under load, although the smaller layout naturally limited airflow. Increasing fan speeds improved temperatures but also raised noise levels, highlighting the balancing act between thermal performance and acoustics that compact designs often demand.

A thoughtful feature is the ability to reposition the front I/O panel, which can be placed at the top or bottom of the case. This small adjustment gives builders more freedom in cable management and airflow optimization, depending on their preferences.

Visually, the O11D Mini V2 stays true to Lian Li’s reputation for clean, minimalist designs. The frameless tempered glass panels showcase the hardware inside while the internal layout supports a wide variety of cooling configurations. The case shines brightest with Micro-ATX builds, as larger ATX boards take up more space and reduce airflow potential.

Lian Li also offers a “Flow” edition of the O11D Mini V2, which includes five pre-installed reverse-flow PWM fans. While this version boosts airflow right out of the box, many builders may prefer to choose their own fans for a balance of looks, noise levels, and cooling efficiency.

Overall, the Lian Li O11D Mini V2 is a thoughtfully designed compact case that delivers both flexibility and style. It may have some airflow limitations when packed with high-end hardware, but for those building with Micro-ATX or smaller platforms, it offers an excellent combination of practicality and aesthetics at a competitive price.
